About SpecAlign

An AI layer for custom home builders, and the problem it exists to fix.

Why we built it

A custom home runs on hundreds of documents. The architect sends plans. The interior designer sends finish schedules. The kitchen consultant, the lighting designer, and the landscape architect each send their own sets, in their own formats, on their own timelines. Then the changes start, and they never really stop.

Most of the expensive mistakes on a custom build don't begin at the saw. They begin on paper: a revised spec that one sub never received, a selection the client changed but the field never heard, two drawings that contradict each other and nobody cross-read. Caught on paper, the fix is a markup. Caught in the field, it's a tear-out.

Rework eats about 9% of every build,1 and close to half of it traces back to poor communication and missing information.2 On a $2M home that's roughly $180,000, most of it from an update that never reached the right person.

Why storing the documents was never enough

The industry's answer has been better folders. Project management tools hold your plans and help you search them. But a folder doesn't read anything. It can't notice that the cabinet spec contradicts the elevation, or tell the tile sub that the selection changed last Tuesday. The job of catching the mistake still lands on a project manager who is already buried in admin.

What SpecAlign is

SpecAlign is AI construction intelligence for custom home builders. It reads every plan, spec, selection, and change the way your best superintendent would, then keeps the whole build aligned to them: the team, the schedule, and the budget.

It does not just store your documents. It reads them, connects them, and surfaces what matters before it costs you.

How it works across the build

It reads your documents

Upload a plan set or a design package. SpecAlign extracts every specification and selection, sorts them by room and trade, and shows its work with a confidence score and a link to the source page.

It catches the conflict early

It cross-checks the documents against each other and flags the contradiction while it is still a markup, not a wall.

It keeps the field current

Trades scan a QR code at the work location and see the current, trade-specific specs. When something changes, the people it affects find out. No app to install.

It connects cost and schedule

A late selection or a long lead time does not stay buried. SpecAlign flags the budget and schedule risk while there is still time to act, not after the rush order.

What we believe

1

Build it right the first time

Rework is the most expensive habit in construction. Catching a mistake on paper costs a markup. Catching it later costs a tear-out, a rush order, and a hard conversation with the client.

2

The earlier the catch, the cheaper the fix

Every problem gets more expensive the longer it lives. The whole point is to move the catch upstream, to the documents, before it ever reaches the field.

3

AI should do the reading, so people can do the building

A superintendent should not spend half the week retyping specs and chasing versions. The software reads. You build.

4

Trust is earned, not claimed

Every extraction carries a confidence score and a link to the page it came from. Nothing touches your project record without your review.

See it on your own plans

Upload a set and watch SpecAlign read it. The fastest way to understand it is to hand it a document.
